Description
The shadow of the American flag falls across the Pool of Remembrance in the Korean War Veterans Memorial, a solemn reminder that "Freedom is not Free." As part of the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Pool of Remembrance lists the numbers of American soldiers killed, wounded, missing in action, and held as prisoners of war. Right next to the numbers of Americans are those of the United Nations troops in the same categories. A nearby plaque in inscribed: "Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met."
